Broom Project Hooks £2k Funding

Broom Project Lands £2K of Funding

We are really pleased to announce that the fishing project at Broom, run by GHOF has hooked £2k worth of Magnox Socio Economic Funding.

The funding will be focused on a "Winter Leavers Project" which has been developed and is being run at Broom Fisheries at Newbie near Annan, as well as other locations across the UK.

This project is a new initiative offering an alternative to mainstream education for those young people who are actively looking to progress into the world of work at the end of the winter term.  This project is aimed at pupils who are in their final school term and are in need of some extra support to help them to move on successfully from mainstream school.

Lesley Arkison, Co-ordinator of Get Hooked on Fishing Scotland said "The young people are made aware of the positive opportunities available through angling and that learning can be achieved out with the classroom environment."
